How To Simplify Your Life

Life these days can be overwhelming – the struggle to keep up, to remain relevant, chasing achievements. We have to deal with work, pay bills, make sure we are on the path to achieving our dreams… So much to do and so little time to get it done, right?

 

We surround ourselves with so many devices, phones, tablets, computers. We have the internet, social media, which is great but also has its disadvantages. We spend so much time looking at screens instead of real people, we put so much focus on trying to impress people who don’t really know us instead of just LIVING. In the long run, we have to keep up with so many things all at once, and so our minds do not get to rest, and then we build up anxiety and stress.

 

We connect happiness to material things, getting a new gadget or a new car, or weave, and when we get it, we have to get more because that’s how the human mind works. These are some reasons why our lives feel complicated. We keep looking for peace in things. This cycle of consumption never results in peace. It cannot bring us true happiness, it can only cause stress, anxiety, anger, and frustration.

 

True happiness comes from within, not from people or things.  You have to be at peace with yourself, shedding your need to get more and accepting the present moment.

 

Simplifying your life is simply removing distractions from your life, and there are so many ways to remove distractions from your life.

Below I have written list of areas which you can start to simplify your life in. You can also think of more ways to simplify your life and kindly share with us. We also want to learn from you.

 

  • Choose yourself
  • Define what you want and why you want it
  • Reduce screen time
  • Reduce social distractions
  • Simplify your thoughts - stop overthinking
  • Spend wisely
  • Stay away from negative energy
  • Stop hoarding material possessions. Declutter!
  • Do only things that make you happy
  • Enjoy the little things.
  • Take time to rest, relax and have fun.
  • Be Grateful and content.

 

These things will mean different things to different people. If you need to, you can write down the things you are distracted by and the things you would rather focus on and make a choice. If you are true to yourself, you will discover your path to a simpler life.
